Clients often worry that they will lose the great results obtained through their Rolfing series. Generally, changes last if the body is able to adjust and integrate to the work and the new information received. New movement patterns learned and new sensations awakened during Rolfing tend to integrate better into daily life when clients practice movement and continue to attend to sensation. Also, practices--such as yoga, tai chi, martial arts, and other movement practices--usually reinforce and build upon changes prompted by the Rolfing Ten Series.
The Rolfing Series is a great impetus for change: in all aspects of a person's life. The body will continue to change as long as the client stays responsive and open to the adventure of life. If we fall back into unhealthy patterns--whether personal, work-related, relational, etc.--our body will revert too. In other words, the results received by the client, and how long the results last, is largely up to the client and where they feel they need or want to go with the work. Many Rolfers like to think of a structural integration series as simply a train stop along your journey through life. Things will happen while your at the train stop, but your story, and the changes you create in your life, will continue far beyond the structure of the series. It is your journey, and you are the conductor!
